I'm sure the aftermarket black cartridge was installed correctly - it was perfectly even with the color cartridges, and made the same definite.. Its designed to use trace amounts from all cartridges on all print jobs. A colour printer uses colour for grayscale so unless it is truly black and white (like text) you might be out of luck.

Without a color cartridge in use at all, you won't. My printer will not print black and white unless an empty color cartridge is replaced. If you decide to keep your printer like I have well here's a link to buy the Inks.
